First National Bank Offices in Columbus and Norfolk
First National Bank was originally chartered in 1906. Chartered as the German National Bank, the name was changed to the Central National Bank during World War I. The Central National Bank name stayed in place until 1961 when the current name First National Bank and Trust Company was chosen.
For nearly a century, First National Bank lays claim as the only Columbus financial institution that did not close during the depression and has had over 90 years of continuous successful operation.
The Bank's success is a tribute to its ongoing strategy of providing quality products & service, an excellent staff, and continuous support to the Columbus community.
First National's offices in Norfolk had their beginning in the fall of 1993 after research indicated that opportunity for an additional commercial bank in the Norfolk area was feasible. A new charter was filed and granted for the community and a small but enthusiastic staff opened First National for business in December of 1993. In 1995 the charter of First National Columbus and Norfolk were merged.
